On May 20, 2025, the shipboard communication cable independently developed by Yanger (Shanghai) Marine Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “our company”) officially passed the comprehensive audit of DNV (Det Norske Veritas), the world’s leading independent certification body, and obtained the type approval certificate for shipboard cables. This certification marks that the reliability and safety of our company’s cable products have reached the international top level in the maritime and offshore engineering fields.
DNV Certification: The “Golden Brand” of International Quality in Maritime and Offshore Engineering Fields
DNV (Det Norske Veritas), established in 1864, is a world-leading classification society and one of the most credible international certification bodies in the maritime, energy, and communication sectors. It is renowned for its strict technical standards and life cycle risk management. This certification covers the full range of our company’s shipboard cables. It took three months to conduct type tests, passing 67 rigorous tests, including core performance tests such as resistance to mud, oil, flame retardancy, fire endurance, ultraviolet resistance, and seawater corrosion, ensuring that the products can operate stably in various complex and harsh environments in the maritime and offshore engineering fields.
Core Advantages of Yanger Shipboard Special Cables: Empowering the Entire Chain from Basic Communication to Intelligent Control
In the maritime and offshore engineering fields, our company’s cables, as the “information superhighway,” are key carriers connecting devices, systems, and scenarios with core advantages of high bandwidth, low latency, and anti-interference capabilities, supporting the intelligent upgrade of modern shipping and ocean development.
- High-speed data transmission: Single-core cables can support bandwidths of over 10 Gbps, meeting the massive data real-time interaction requirements of systems such as ship navigation (e.g., ECDIS electronic charts), satellite communication, high-definition video surveillance, and IoT sensors (for temperature, humidity, and pressure monitoring). This avoids signal attenuation and electromagnetic interference issues associated with traditional copper cables.
- Anti-interference device interconnection and control: In ship engine rooms and deck equipment, cables can build industrial Ethernet control networks such as ProfiNet and Ethernet/IP, completely eliminating electromagnetic interference and precisely transmitting instructions for power system management, valve control, and thruster adjustment with latency of less than 100 microseconds, ensuring the real-time and reliable coordination of equipment.
- Safety monitoring and emergency communication: Cables integrated into distributed temperature sensing (DTS) systems can provide accurate and continuous monitoring data, detecting ship hull stress, compartment temperature, and subsea cable leakage abnormalities in real time, diagnosing faults in advance, and reducing overall ship risks.
Technological Breakthroughs: Building a High-Reliability Communication Foundation
1. Oil and mud resistance: “Survival test” in oil and gas scenarios
In scenarios such as oil platforms and drilling operations, cables are often threatened by crude oil leaks and mud flushing. This test simulated environments with IRM 902 and IRM 903 composite experimental oils and high-concentration mud. After 7 days of continuous soaking and dynamic flushing at 100°C, the fiber optic signal stability and attenuation characteristics of the cables remained at the same level as before the test, with no expansion or cracking of the sheath. The product meets and even exceeds the NEK 606 standard for marine engineering cables.
2. Flame retardancy and fire endurance: Building a solid communication defense for personnel safety
Due to the enclosed space, delayed rescue, and complex environment of maritime and offshore systems, the continuous communication lines in extreme disaster scenarios such as fires are directly related to the safety of personnel and the efficiency of rescue operations. Our shipboard cables have passed rigorous fire endurance tests and provide a solid communication defense for life safety, ensuring that “communication never breaks down and hope never fades” in critical moments. The cables feature a high-purity mica tape fire-resistant layer and a specially formulated flame-retardant polyolefin sheath, which can maintain uninterrupted signal transmission for 180 minutes under 1,000°C high-temperature flames and impact, far exceeding the IEC 60331-2 standard. This means that in raging fires, our shipboard cables can still ensure key communications, providing trapped personnel with more valuable escape time and stable information transmission channels for rescue command.
3. Broad temperature range adaptability: Breakthrough performance
With innovative technology and material processes, our cables can operate stably within a temperature range of -40°C to 80°C, breaking through the performance limitations of traditional cables. The products passed the IEC 60794-1-2 mechanical performance test, showing excellent performance in more than 10 rigorous tests such as low-temperature stretching, impact, and bending, with an optical attenuation coefficient of less than 0.2 dB/km throughout the test. Whether it is communication for polar scientific expeditions, high-temperature and high-salinity marine engineering, or network construction in cold border areas, our cables can ensure reliable performance and “zero-interruption” communication, becoming an excellent choice for communication construction in extreme temperature environments.
Deepening Maritime and Offshore Communications, Opening New Chapters of Cooperation
Previously, our company had already obtained DNV, CCS, and ABS classification society certifications for shipboard network cables and coaxial cables. From shipboard network cables and coaxial cables to shipboard optical cables, the certification map of our company in the maritime communication field continues to expand, marking the basic formation of a “full-category, full-scenario” product matrix. This breakthrough is not only a vertical extension of technical strength but also a key move in our international strategy—we provide global customers with full-chain solutions from signal transmission to data bearing in accordance with international leading standards.
In the future, our company will rely on the certification advantages of three major product lines: special network cables, coaxial cables, and optical cables, and accelerate integration into the global maritime and offshore communication network construction. Driven by both international and domestic certifications, we will release greater value in fields such as smart shipping and offshore engineering. From nearshore to offshore, from single products to system solutions, we will always stand shoulder to shoulder with our customers, ensuring that every voyage is powered by connectivity.
