Corrugated metal hose is also known as metal bellows. As an elastic sealing element, it is widely used in the valve manufacturing industry, such as bellows gate valves and bellows globe valves. The bellows structure converts the dynamic tight sealing of the valve stem at the stuffing box to the static tight sealing of the valve stem at the bonnet, making the tight sealing of the valve safer and more reliable. However, bellows metal hoses can only withstand tension and compression, not torque. So far, its application has been limited to gate valves, globe valves and safety valves, where the valve stem only moves up and down the shaft without radial rotation.
Classification and application of corrugated metal hose
Corrugated metal hose is a large-flow flexible connection and management method in modern industrial pipelines. It is mainly composed of corrugated metal hose, metal mesh and various joints. The inner pipe is a spiral corrugated or annular corrugated thin-walled stainless steel corrugated pipe, and the outer mesh sleeve of the corrugated pipe is made of stainless steel wire or stainless steel strip according to certain parameters. The joints at both ends of the hose should be manufactured according to the joint method of the user’s pipeline or facility.
Types of bellows: bellows are mainly divided into metal (stainless steel, carbon steel) bellows and molecular composite plastic bellows. Corrugated metal hose is mainly used to compensate the thermal deformation, shock absorption and settlement deformation of the equivalent pipeline. Widely used in petrochemical, instrumentation, aerospace, chemical, electric power, sensitive earth, metal smelting and other industries. Corrugated pipes made of plastic and other materials play an irreplaceable role in media transmission, power threading, machine tools, household appliances and other fields. Corrugated metal hoses are used for thermally expanding and cold-shrinking pipes.
