Why do cables need to be painted with fire-resistant soil coatings? How to apply fire retardant paint?

Cable fire retardant coating is a kind of fire protection, according to the national standard “GB cable fire retardant coating”, cable fire retardant coating refers to the coating on cables (such as rubber, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, cross-linked polyethylene and other materials as conductors and The surface of the sheathed cable) has a fire-retardant coating with fire-retardant protection and a certain decorative effect.

The cables in power plants, industrial and mining and other places will reduce the carrying capacity of the cables due to the high temperature rise, or short-circuit and cause fire accidents due to the greatly reduced strength of the insulating layer. Cable fire retardant coating is a very effective measure to prevent the spread of cable fire. Cable fire retardant coating is a kind of fire retardant coating, according to the national standard “GB cable fire retardant coating”, cable fire retardant coating refers to the coating on cables (such as rubber, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, cross-linked polyethylene and other materials as conductors) and sheathed cables) surface, fire-retardant coatings with fire-retardant protection and a certain decorative effect.

Why do cables need to be painted with fire retardant paint?

First, the use of cable fire retardant coating on the cable can ensure that the cable is non-flammable or non-flammable in the flame, and can be thrown to maintain normal operation for a certain period of time. After the fireproof coating of the cable is exposed to fire, it can form a carbonized layer to prevent the fire from spreading inward, and can protect the cable line.

Second, compared with other protection measures, brushing the cable fireproof coating is more energy-saving and the construction is more convenient. Because of the small thickness and good heat dissipation of the cable fireproof coating, according to the experiment, the influence on the current carrying capacity of the cable is very small and can be ignored.

When the power cable is laid in the fireproof box or in the fireproof bridge, the current carrying capacity of the power cable will decrease.

Therefore, in engineering, applying fire retardant paint is more economical than laying fire retardant paint in tank boxes and fire bridges, which consumes less energy and reduces engineering costs.

Therefore, in the project, the application of fire-resistant paint is lower than the energy consumption of laying in the tank box and the fire-resistant bridge, and the project cost is reduced, which is more economical.

Third, painting the cable fireproof material is an effective method to prevent the vertical spread of fire.

Generally speaking, cables laid in pipeline wells should produce chimney effect in fire, especially in high-rise buildings. If the cable does not take fire prevention measures, it is easy to spread the fire and form a large area of combustion. Therefore, the flame retardant properties of cables are concerned with the spread of fire.

How to apply fire retardant paint?

First, the floating dust, oil stains, sundries, etc. on the surface of the cable should be cleaned and polished before the construction of the fireproof coating, and the construction of the fireproof coating can be carried out after the surface is dry.

Second, this product is constructed by spraying, brushing and other methods. It should be fully stirred and evenly mixed when used. When the paint is slightly thick, it can be diluted with an appropriate amount of tap water to facilitate spraying.

Third, during the construction process and before the coating is dry, it should be waterproof, anti-exposure, anti-pollution, anti-movement, anti-bending, and repair in time if there is any damage.

Fourth, for wires and cables with plastic and rubber sheaths, it is generally applied directly for more than 5 times, the coating thickness is 0.5-1mm, and the dosage is about 1.5kg/m². For insulated cables packed with oil paper, a layer of glass filament should be wrapped first. Cloth, before brushing, if the construction is outdoors or in a humid environment, a matching finish varnish should be added.
